On January 28, 1936 an organizational meeting was held to establish a Credit Union for the employees of the Veterans Administration Facility and their families. Those present applied for a charter in the name of U.S. Veterans Facility Muskogee Federal Credit Union #946. The Credit Union began with 34 members. Over the next several years the field of membership increased to encompass several select employee groups and additional services were added. Muskogee General Hospital Credit Union merged with The Muskogee Government Employees Federal Credit Union in 1984. As a result, the name was changed to Muskogee Federal Credit Union in January 1985. On July 31, 1998 approval was received to amend the Credit Union charter to a community charter enabling us to serve persons who live, work, worship, or attend school in Muskogee and Cherokee counties. Today the Credit Union serves more than 9,000 members and assets exceed $70,000,000.
